Primary Raw Material for Ethanol Production – Thai Ethanol Sugar Co., Ltd.
The primary raw material used in ethanol production by Thai Ethanol Sugar Co., Ltd. is molasses, a by-product derived from the sugar production process. The molasses is fermented with yeast under anaerobic conditions to convert the sugar content into ethanol.
The ethanol obtained from fermentation is then distilled to produce ethanol with a purity of 95%, followed by a dehydration process to achieve 99.5% pure ethanol. The finished ethanol is subsequently stored in storage tanks awaiting distribution.
As ethanol is a renewable energy derived from agricultural products cultivated in Thailand, the promotion of the ethanol industry not only enhances the livelihoods of Thai farmers but also reduces dependence on imported oil. Moreover, plant-based ethanol is a clean energy source that reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, thereby contributing to mitigating global warming.
