On 18 January 2025, it was confirmed that Thai Udonthani Power Plant meets all safety standards. The boilers used are high-quality from Japan, and have passed safety inspections every year. In addition, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report was submitted to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) every 6 months without failure. In regard to environmental impact management, the power plant has a real-time CEMs (Continuous Emission Monitoring System) installed, which sends online data to the Department of Industrial Works.
Thai Udonthani Sugar Mill Co., Ltd. and Thai Udonthani Power Co., Ltd. give priority to sustainability and are committed to operating business in accordance with the ESG guidelines, as well as the policies, practices, and measures of the Ministry of Industry. Regarding the campaign against purchasing burnt sugarcane, the plant is willing to fully comply with the policies and guidelines of the Ministry of Industry. However, in practice, cutting, burning, or not burning depends on the context of sugarcane farming in the specific area and the ability/ readiness of the sugarcane farmers. The plant is the end of the chain. Therefore, it is necessary to take the time to understand and cooperate with contracted sugarcane farmers to solve the problem of burning sugarcane, and to support sugarcane farmers in their harvesting of fresh sugarcane in an integrated manner. In response to government policies, we have accelerated implementation of the “Sustainable Sugarcane Management” plan, which is the Company’s sustainability policy in 2025.
