OUR HISTORY
Thailand currently has to import most of its energy, costing hundreds of millions of baht, while domestic demand for energy continues to increase. As the sources of energy used today come from fossil fuels, they are non-renewable, and moreover, they cause the greenhouse effect and global warming. To decrease the reliance on these imported fuels and generate clean, alternative and sustainable energy, we therefore use bagasse from the sugar production process as feedstock for biomass power generation, and use spent wash from ethanol production to generate biogas energy. These are used for generating power in our “TSM Group” plants, and are also distributed to the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) for further distribution to households and communities in provincial areas.
“TSM Group”Biomass Power Plants
Currently, there are 3 bagasse-based biomass power plants.
Thai Udonthani Power Co., Ltd.
Founded on 17 January, 2011, the plant generates steam and biomass energy from bagasse with a current production capacity of 50 megawatts. The feedstock, i.e. bagasse, is obtained from Thai Udonthani Sugar Mill Co., Ltd. and used for generating power in our “TSM Group” plants, as well as distributed to the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) according to the Very Small Power Producer (VSPP) project of the Ministry of Energy.
Plant Location: No. 118, Moo 10, Tambon Khambong, Amphoe Ban Phue, Udon Thani 41160
Thai Karnchanaburi Power Co., Ltd
Founded on 8 June 2011, the plant generates steam and biomass energy from bagasse, with a current production capacity of 8 megawatts. The feedstock, i.e. bagasse, is obtained from Thai Karnchanaburi Sugar Mill Co., Ltd. and is used for generating power in our plants and distributed to other companies within the TSM Group, as well as the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) according to the Very Small Power Producer (VSPP) project of the Ministry of Energy.
Plant Location: No. 1, Moo 8, Sangchuto Road, Tambon Tha Mai, Amphoe Tha Maka, Kanchanaburi 71120
Thai Karnchanaburi Power 2 Co., Ltd
Founded on 1 December, 2014, the plant generates steam and biomass energy from bagasse with a current production capacity of 15 megawatts. The feedstock, i.e. bagasse, is obtained from Thai Karnchanaburi Sugar Mill Co., Ltd. and used for generating power in our plants and distributed to other companies within the TSM Group, as well as the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) according to the Very Small Power Producer (VSPP) project of the Ministry of Energy.
Plant Location: No. 1, Moo 8, Sangchuto Road, Tambon Tha Mai, Amphoe Tha Maka, Kanchanaburi 71120
“TSM Group” Biomass Power Plants
Currently, there are two biomass power plants utilizing vinasse, a by-product of ethanol production, as follows:
TSM Bio Energy Co., Ltd.
TSM Bio Energy (2012) Co., Ltd.
TSM Bio Energy Co., Ltd. was established on 27 November 2007 with a production capacity of 2 MW, and TSM Bio Energy (2012) Co., Ltd. was established on 28 November 2012 with a production capacity of 4 MW.
TSM Bio Energy is one of the renewable energy businesses of TSM Group, producing biogas from vinasse, a by-product of ethanol production, to generate electricity for use within the plant, supply the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), and provide biogas to TSM Bio Energy (2012) Co., Ltd. for further electricity generation.
